Top floor office space in Dupont for lease
Located on the 17th Street corridor, well known for its off-set mix of restaurants, shops and night life, the building is set back quietly on the top floor of a historic commercial building, with views north and south and skylights above. Located an 8 minute walk from the Dupont Circle metro station, the office space is set amidst one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the country.
Chef Mikko and Rob purchased the building, circa 1899 and deserving of affection befitting its age, in 2017. Mikko, having served as chef at the Finnish embassy for 15 years, saw the stale edifice both as an investment in the neighborhood they called home and a home for Mikko's extraordinary talents. The building, then a fading beige row house with a shuttered Chinese carry-out, needed a rebirth in line with Dupont Circle's vibrant and eclectic vibe, and Mikko needed the proper space to showcase Finnish-style herring, breads and pastries, later adding other Nordic specialties unrepresented in DC's varied dining scene. Offering morning and evening victuals (coffee and cocktails), the new owners added unthinkable colors to the monochrome block, with a shockingly red, white, and blue facade reflective of the Nordic heritage of Mikko's native Finland and bordering Scandanavian nations, earning a dedicated local following and envious reviews along the way.
Kudos in pocket, the new owners renovated the offices upstairs, offering an updated office above one of the city's most inviting cafes. The 3rd floor space features wood floors, historic accents and 9 foot ceilings, with 3 private offices and 3 separated but open workspaces, ideal for a collaborative office or independent work space. The interior is lit from north and south facing windows, as well as sky lights throughout. Other amenities are private bathroom, central air, and free trash service.
